Moxie Mania Future Uncertain in N.Y.

21 November 2008

New York's State Liquor Authority has ruled that a slot-machine like game, available in hundreds of pubs upstate, is not a game of skill and, therefore, illegal.

The Associated Press reports that earlier this year, the authority had decreed the game, called Moxie Mania, was based on skill. At a meeting at the authority's headquarters in Albany yesterday, however, two of three commissioners found the opposite.

The game's owner, Pace-O-Matic Corporation, has 500 or so Moxie Mania machines on offer in New York.
