Michael O'Brien, Victoria's shadow minister for gaming, has called Intralot's launch on the Victorian lottery market a "disaster."
Intralot, the Greece-based lottery operator and gaming technology supplier, launched on July 1 in 500 outlets in the state. Mr. O'Brien told Victorian local newspaper the Wimmera Mail-Times that many agencies are already left without computer systems, software and the training required to sell Intralot's products.
Some agencies are without the products altogether, despite paying the nearly $10,000 registration fee, he added.
Mr. O'Brien has called on Tony Robinson, gaming minister for Victoria, to apologize to lottery agents.
However, a spokesperson for Mr. Robinson told the Mail-Times that the government anticipated some transitional issues and has worked with the Victorian Small Business Commissioner, the Lottery Agents Association of Victoria and the licensees to resolve the issues.
