LAWSUIT DOWN UNDER
Tabcorp Ltd. has filed a claim in the Federal Court of Australia alleging that
Sportsbet, an online sports book in Australia’s Northern Territory, replicated some of the gambling operator’s information,
according to The Australian.
The newspaper reported on Thursday that Nick Tyshing, Sportsbet’s director, said that his company would “vigorously defend the case.” According to The Sydney Morning Herald, Sportsbet believes Tabcorp surrendered the information copyright under its New South Wales government license.
LAUNCHING
On Wednesday, Typhoon Pools Pty. Ltd. , a subsidiary of Media and Gaming Pty. Ltd. , launched a new parimutuel wagering site at typhoon-pools.com.
The site operates on the Typhoon software platform, which the Australian company said it built from the ground up and features win, place, quinella, exacta, trifecta, double and pick-n wagering as well as specialty bets and jackpots.
Typhoon Pools claims it will be in taking 30 percent less in commission than Australian totalizator agency boards and that it will give back to racing and sporting bodies via product fees.
“We believe in paying our way, and we will also be proud to assist in opening new markets for the racing and sporting sectors,” said Nicholas Plowman, the company’s managing director, in a prepared statement. “In fact, fundamentally, we feel strongly that the introduction of Typhoon will be integral to the racing industry’s future development.”
CHEATING DEFEAT
Released on Tuesday, “PitBoss,” a new program from CogniSafe Ltd., says it can prevent cheating in online games.
“Whether gamers are playing card games such as poker, board games such as chess or almost any other form of game, we have a proven solution to any potential cheating scenario,” said Shmuel Konforty, the company’s chief technical officer.
The program addresses online bots, collusion, software hacking and the use of probability calculators. Additionally the company said the program can detect whether a player has access to confidential information or has been logging off during bad poker hands.
