A Look Back -- One year ago today, former BetonSports CEO David Carruthers was detained by U.S. federal agents at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport. Soon after Carruthers' arrest, the industry lost nearly £300 million in share value on the LSE. Sportech Announces New Board Appointee -- Sportech has named former SFX Sports Group CEO Jon Holmes as a non-executive director of its board. "We are delighted that Jon is joining our board," said Sportech chairman Piers Pottinger. "He brings a wealth of experience of the sports business, in particular the football industry, and his knowledge and understanding of sports marketing and branding will be invaluable."

Help from Afar -- Glasgow-based Gamblers Anonymous will this summer launch its problem gambling phone-conference services using voice-over-Internet technology from Skype. "There are people in places like Portree Arran and parts of southern Ayrshire, Dumfires and Galloway who can't travel the long distances to their nearest meeting in Inverness or Carlisle," a Gambler's Anonymous spokesperson said. "People in these communities are as vulnerable to Internet gambling as people in the big cities who have meetings on their doorstep."

Neteller Director Resigns -- Gord Herman, director and executive chairman of Neteller, has resigned "to concentrate on personal matters." The company said non-executive director Dale Johnson will assume the role of non-executive chairman with immediate effect.
