APPOINTING
Ålands Penningautomatförening, or PAF, has announced the appointment of
Anders Ingves, the former chief executive of a cruise and shipping company, as its new chief executive on Tuesday.
Long-time PAF chief executive Lars Porko will step down on May 1, the company said.
Prior to joining the Åland Islands-licensed gambling operator, Mr. Ingves served as chief executive at Birka Line, an Ålandian shipping and cruise operator, until resigning in May 2008. PAF said Mr. Ingves also has served as the chief executive of Åland's Tourism Board and deputy chief executive of Ålandsbanken.
“Firstly, it is an extremely interesting company with many exciting minds,” said Mr. Ingves regarding his appointment in a prepared statement. “PAF feels young and has had a rapid growth. Secondly, PAF works in an interesting part of the entertainment industry. I see great potential for growth for the company, even if it will be tough to shoulder Lars Porko's mantle.”
COME ON DOWN!
After unveiling a “Grease”-themed slot in February, Probability has signed a multi-year agreement with FremantleMedia Enterprises for game show brands like “The Price Is Right” and “The X Factor.”
The mobile gaming specialist said it will use the popular brands to develop mobile slot games.
“Slots are our most popular and profitable product segment, and I am confident that games based upon these brands will add significantly to our offering,” said Charles P. Cohen, the company’s chief executive, in a prepared statement.
“Play Your Cards Right”, “Blankety Blank”, “Sale Of The Century” and “Hole In The Wall” join “The Price Is Right” and “The X Factor” as the entertainment shows part of the new licensing deal.
“The brands themselves are instantly recognizable and inspire loyalty and affection from the public,” Mr. Cohen added.
STAYING OPEN
Codere S.A., a Spain-based gambling operator, has been allowed to keep the doors open of its Argentine bingo hall during a license renewal dispute.
According to Reuters, the company said a judge has decided to allow Bingo Platense in La Plata to remain open, despite an expiring gaming license.
In January the company announced that it would appeal local regulators’ decision to not renew its 15-year operating license.
