DERBY WEEKEND
Youbet.com Inc., the online horse racing and horse betting site, reported a strong performance this weekend during the
Kentucky Derby with amounts wagered spiking 115 percent year over year.
More than $7.5 million was wagered Friday and Saturday, though total two-day handle results across all Youbet offerings were down 2.1 percent from 2006, the California-based company said.
In addition, Youbet said the Derby race card produced the third-best day in company history in terms of handle on the Youbet Express system
"Even though the costs of content have risen this year, this weekend’s results demonstrate Youbet’s commitment and ability to deliver the best experience for our customers," said Michael Brodsky, the group's chief executive, in a company statement.
