Launching -- The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) will officially begin taking bets from certain parts United States on Sept. 9 through its exclusive partnership with Nevada-based Las Vegas Dissemination Company (LVDC). The deal will see LVDC offer full tote services and live simulcasting of featured races held at the HKJC to U.S. bettors, and see the HKJC accept commingled bets from bettors into its pools. HKJC betting will begin at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut. Las Vegas casinos will soon take commingled bets on HKJC races.
Practical Guide to UK Law -- U.K.-based mobile gaming provider Million 2-1 today announced the launch of its free guide to the new regulatory framework covered under U.K. Gambling Act 2005, effected Sept. 1. The guide, titled GA 2005, Compliance and Opportunities, is a seven-point manual offering information to media companies, service providers and brands on how the legislation affects the gambling industry.
Gambling Prevalence Study -- The U.K. Gambling Commission on Sept. 19 will publish its study of problem gambling in the United Kingdom. The report examines the prevalence of different types of gambling in Britain, including land-based and online casinos and playing the National Lottery. The study will provide a basis for gambling legislation and policy in the country.
Exterminating -- Online betting group Betfair has made an agreement with California-based Fortify Software for the use of its Source Code Analysis (SCA) product, which will enable Betfair to develop applications more quickly and with fewer bugs. Under the terms of the agreement, Betfair will deploy Fortify's SCA to help locate and fix certain types of software bugs before formal testing starts, which, according to Fortify, renders the development lifecycle more efficient.
LVFH Reports Falling Revenue -- Las Vegas From Home.com Entertainment Inc. has reported an 86 percent decrease in revenue to $126,428 for its second quarter ended June 30, 2007. Furthermore, the company reported a net loss of $1.6 million for the period, compared with losses of $360,306 in the previous quarter.
IG Group Reports Soaring Revenue -- Spread betting company IG Group said high levels of market volatility boosted its revenues for Q1 2007 ended Aug. 30 more than 60 percent over the same period last year. The company reported revenue in excess of £40 million compared with about £25 million in the same quarter last year.
Stock Watch -- On the LSE, Ladbrokes was down 8.75p to 418.25, Neteller was down 2.50p to 89.50 and 888 was up 1.75p to 120.50. In Vienna, bwin was down 0.57 euros to 18.28 euros, and in Stockholm, Unibet was down SEK 8.00 to SEK 189.00.
