Bwin Interactive Entertainment AG, the Austrian online gaming company, has filed a defamation lawsuit with a Paris court against the French Tennis Federation (FFT) in response to the FFT's ban on betting at the upcoming French Open. In February, the FFT initiated legal proceedings on the ban and hopes to have a court ruling before the start of the tournament on May 25.
Mark Davies, managing director of Betfair, a London-based betting exchange, has called for a world anti-corruption agency for sport. Mr. Davies suggested to the Sunday Star-Times of New Zealand that the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) could expand its role from an anti-doping agency to being a watchdog organization over corrupt sportspeople. Betfair holds information sharing agreements with several of the world's sports bodies.
According to research by 888Ladies.com, a bingo site owned by Cassava Enterprises, nearly 31,000 women are playing online bingo every week in Yorkshire, England, taking home £18 million, or $36 million, a year in the process. The survey found that women in the town are playing online bingo more times per week than they go to the gym (22 percent) or have sex (12 percent).

The World Series of Poker (WSOP) on Tuesday denied rumors that it was considering televising the Main Event final table live on ESPN, which would postpone it until at least July. "It is (just) a rumor," said Seth Palansky, communications director for the WSOP, in response to rumors carried by the poker blogosphere. "We're not going to stoke it. We're not shy. If we have news to announce, we'll do it."
