EXPANDING In a statement from Sportingbet’s annual general meeting, which was held on Friday, Peter Dicks, the group’s chairman, discussed plans for the operator to launch Web sites targeting the South African and Romanian markets.

Mr. Dicks said that the sites would “further underpin the group’s strategy of being a globally diversified gaming operator.”

“There will also be further product enhancements providing customers with a greater variety of betting opportunities throughout the day,” he added. “The group's sales, marketing and customer service functions will continue to concentrate on 'quality and value' customers as opposed to 'quantity at any cost.’”

LAUNCHED On Thursday, Net Entertainment A.B. announced the launch of Victor Chandler Casino. The casino was a result of a licensing agreement between the Sweden-based makers of CasinoModule and Victor Chandler, a sports betting and online gaming company, which was announced in July.

In a prepared statement, Michael Carlton, Victor Chandler’s chief executive, said that with the launch of the new casino, the company expects “significant growth through 2009.”

LUCK BE A LIL’ LADY On Friday, WagerWorks introduced a new online slot game entitled “Lil’ Lady,” which features a purple, lipstick-wearing ladybug.

The online subsidiary of International Game Technology said that the slot game is based on the land-based line of “Lil’ Lady” games. The five-reel, 40-payline game is set in a fantasy bug world and features a top award of 250,000 currency units.
