SPONSORING
Betdaq has signed a deal with
Arena Leisure, a racecourse management group, to sponsor four of their racecourses in the buildup to this year’s Cheltenham Festival.
According to the online betting exchange, the agreement includes sponsorship of 72 races at Lingfield Park, Wolverhampton, Southwell and Folkestone.
“We have had a long standing relationship with Arena Leisure, and this new deal demonstrates our commitment to both flat and National Hunt racing in the U.K.,” said Russell Wiseman, Betdaq’s public relations director. “We are looking forward to a strong presence at these four courses in the build-up to Cheltenham.”
The deal runs from Feb. 14 until March 6.
SHARING DATA
Bwin Interactive Entertainment A.G. is passing along its anonymous activity data from more than 40,000 users as the founding sponsor of the Transparency Project, a public data repository for privately funded datasets related to addictive behavior, the company announced on Tuesday.
The project, an initiative of the division on addictions Cambridge Health Alliance, was created to promote transparency for privately-funded science and offer better access to scientific information, the online gaming provider said in a prepared statement.
“Greater access to scientific information, in this case actual internet gaming activity records, should accelerate our ability to understand problem gaming, and also to implement the mechanisms necessary to detect it early,” said Manfred Bodner, co-chief executive of Bwin. “Our ultimate goal, of course, is to prevent it from occurring in the first place.”
FESTIVAL OF POKER
PKR.com will hold its land-based festival, PKR Live, on April 17-19 at London’s Loose Cannon, the company said on Tuesday.
The three-day festival will feature a $500 buy-in at the main event with an expected prize pool of $75,000.
The inaugural PKR Live took place in November 2008 with players coming from as far as Canada and Russia to meet the faces behind the avatars, PKR said.
“I’ve been to tournaments in Monte Carlo and Las Vegas, the Bahamas and Barcelona, but I’ve never experienced such a sense of goodwill and enjoyment as I did at PKR Live,” said Rick Dacey, editor of Stacked Magazine, in a prepared statement.
RESEARCHING
GamblingAnalysts.eu has released a study that puts the privatization of France’s Internet sports betting under the microscope.
“All you would want -- or need -- to know about the privatization of the two French monopolies” compiles all the news and information on the new privatization process for Pari Mutuel Urbain Française des Jeux, the country's horse betting and lottery monopolists, respectively.
The research will be distributed via e-mail in PDF format as a single-user license. The pre-sale period for the study will end Feb. 15. Orders before that date are 1,000 euros and, after that date, 1,250 euros.
