SPONSORING Peter “Zupp” Jepsen, a Danish poker professional, has joined the ranks of Betfair Poker’s “New Breed.”

Announced on Tuesday, Mr. Jepsen has inked an exclusive sponsorship deal with the betting exchange’s poker site. The “New Breed” lineup already includes professional poker players like Annette Obrestad, Sorel Mizzi and John Tabatabai.

“When we are looking for new players we look for young, successful online players who have the ability to perform well at offline tournaments,” said Bruce Stubbs, head of Betfair Poker, in a prepared statement. “We now have four of the best multi-disciplined sponsored players in the industry and am confident that Peter will feel right at home on the Betfair Poker tables.”

PITCHING IN Ladbrokes, Betfair and Sportech could join together in the name of charity and are encouraging more gambling operators to pitch in, The Sunday Times reported over the weekend.

According to the Times, the gaming companies will soon announce plans to raise £10 million for a charity benefiting future Olympic competitors.

HIRING Bwin Interactive Entertainment A.G. has brought Stefan Streit to its Vienna headquarters to serve as its chief marketing officer, the company announced on Tuesday.

Mr. Streit took over responsibilities overseeing Bwin’s entire marketing and sales department on Dec. 1, 2008. Prior to his new position, Mr. Streit served as head of marketing for Sony Ericsson, a mobile phone manufacturer, and was responsible for the western European area.

CERTIFIED After an assessment by eCOGRA Ltd., Jadestone’s GamArena has been certified by the nonprofit independent auditors, the software supplier announced on Tuesday.

The certification follows the European Gaming & Betting Association standards, which includes 170 technical requirements adopted by all association members, Jadestone said.

“Product quality is a key differentiator for GamArena and this certification is an important aspect of that,” said Marcus Dahlgren, product manager at Jadestone, in a prepared statement. “Having the stamp of approval from an external auditor makes it easier for potential partners to evaluate our offering.”
