JERSEY BOUND On Monday, Gtech Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Lottomatica S.p.A., announced that it would be providing the New Jersey Lottery with new systems and products following a competitive procurement.
Expected to gain revenues of approximately $105 million during the seven-year contract term, Gtech said under the terms it would provide the state with software solutions, approximately 6,200 new online lottery terminals and an IP-communications network. Additionally, Gtech said it expects to install 4,100 self-service ticket checkers and provide telemarketing, warehousing and distribution services for the lottery’s instant tickets.
“Gtech is privileged to work hand-in-hand with the lottery providing a holistic approach to the marketplace, through player and retailer trend analyses, and learning from our global footprint and our new media subsidiaries who are well-versed in interactive offerings and exciting new game content,” said Jaymin B. Patel, Gtech's President and chief executive, in a prepared statement.
The contract, which the company said will to be finalized sometime in January, includes three one-year extension options.
ACQUIRING NetPlay TV announced on Friday the acquisition of Venturygames.co.uk, and Toucanwin.com, the mobile gambling and skill gaming businesses of Info-download Ltd., a subsidiary of Zed Worldwide S.A.
The interactive gaming company said it has signed an exclusive two-year sales agreement with Zed to sell the NetPlay TV range of interactive gaming solutions to its worldwide mobile network client base. As part of these transactions, NetPlay TV said it will also acquire the United Kingdom mobile quiz business, “Grab a Grand,” from Info-download.
According to NetPlay TV, the businesses acquired as part of this transaction currently generate monthly gross revenues of circa £500,000.
“As we move forward, we will offer all of these services via multiple access points from mobile to Internet to TV,” said Martin Higginson, executive chairman and chief executive, in a prepared statement. “The signing of this deal will also allow us access the millions of Zed users as well as their network of Mobile Network Operator relationships.”
LAUNCHING Playtech has launched a play-for-real money poker network to for the Italian poker market after sampling it in a play-for-fun mode.
Following license agreements, announced earlier in the second half of this year, with leading Italian operators Snai s.r.l., Gala Coral's Eurobet Italia S.p.A., Sisal S.p.A. and Cogetech S.p.A., all operators are now offering real-money products on Playtech's Italian poker network, the company announced last Friday.
“The recent launch . . . set our foothold in the Italian market, which will lead to a prominent position in that market, the launch of the play for real network in Italy testifies to our extensive experience in penetrating new regulated markets with our best of breed software platform,” Mor Weizer, Playtech's chief executive, said in a prepared statement.
ICEi DEBUT Mirada, an interactive digital media specialist, has announced that it will make its debut at ICEi, the remote gaming sector within the 2009 International Gaming Expo, by showcasing “Virtual Dealer Roulette” at London’s Earls Court Exhibition Centre from Jan. 27-29, 2009.
Headquartered in London, Mirada said it will show an audiovisual gaming product that offers synchronized single-wallet gaming that can be broadcasted simultaneously across all major platforms. The roulette game features multi-player action while being fully automated around the clock with presenters, interactive content and live statistics.
