Celtic FC Goes Mobile -- Mobile solutions provider Mobenga has agreed to provide Celticfcbet with a mobile betting service. "We are thrilled to provide the possibility for our fans use their mobile phone to participate in the excitement surrounding our matches," said Celtic FC Biz Development Manager Kenny Macleod.
New Pitch for Two Way -- Two Way Gaming has agreed to supply Pitch Entertainment, a digital TV and Web content specialist, with a U.K.-facing gaming brand called Pitch Gaming. By way of the deal, Two Way has built an online casino for Pitch, which is to be supported by the TV game show, Pitch Roulette, broadcast on the Sky platform. "TV is a great medium through which to acquire customers for the gaming Web sites," said Two Way managing director Guy Templer.
Out of the Race -- The Financial Times reports Ladbrokes has scrapped plans to enter the U.K. land-based casino market, amid talk that U.K. Culture Minister James Purnell will "announce the formal burial of the proposed supercasino in Manchester." Purnell is also expected to give the go-ahead for eight large and eight small casinos that remain from the "wreckage" of the government's "much-derided" casino expansion plan. The paper adds that Ladbrokes' decision to abandon the casino market effectively precludes the possibility of it making a bid for embattled operator Rank Group.
Stock Watch -- Fears of a U.S. recession played havoc with the LSE today, as the FTSE fell 5.5 percent -- its largest single-day loss since Sept. 11, 2001. 888 was down 8.50p to 126.00, Ladbrokes was down 11p to 266.00, Playtech was down 13.50p to 326.50 and Sportech was down 5p to 86.00.
