Belgium to Introduce New I-Gaming Regs -- By month's end, Belgian officials are expected to unveil the definitive version of the country's gambling legislation currently under construction, reports Yogonet.com. Members of the Belgian Finance Ministry, in conjunction with members of the Ministry of Justice, will reportedly put the finishing touches on the legislation, which is expected to be adopted--without modification--as early as March 2007.
Inked -- Taiwan-based I-gaming provider GigaMedia announced in December that it has signed a five-year deal with the World MahJong Organization (WMO) to co-host the MahJong World Championship. Together, the groups will operate a series of qualifying tournaments in Asia, Europe and North America, culminating in the World Championship. "Mahjong is the traditional game of choice for over a billion people," said GigaMedia CEO Arthur Wang. "We envision a championship as big as the World Series of Poker."
EiG 2007 Announced -- River City Group and Clarion ATE today announced the 2007 European i-Gaming Congress and Expo (EiG) will take place Oct. 2-4, with the CCIB Barcelona to repeat as the event's host. Organizers will make further EiG-related announcements via www.eigexpo.com later this year.
New Agreement -- Sports betting information provider iGaming Corporation today announced a four-year, $2 million agreement with three independent media and entertainment companies to supply advertisement space, customer database information and other related services.
