No American Play -- Swedish gaming operator and software provider 24hPoker said today that it has decided to bar U.S. players from all gaming services provided by the company and on its partner sites in the B2B Poker network. The decision is the result of the recent shakeup in the Internet gambling industry within the U.S., where authorities arrested BetonSports CEO David Carruthers, who was fired from the company today. 24hpoker will stop serving U.S. customers on Sept. 1.
Rodman Slots -- GoldenPalace.com has launched an online slot machine honoring NBA bad boy Dennis Rodman. The reels of the slot feature pictures of some of Rodman's most famous stunts and appearances. The game is a 5-reel slot with twenty paylines and a bonus mini-game. It is available in multiple languages and currencies.
Moneymaker Millionaire -- Online poker gaming site PokerStars.com on Monday launched the "Moneymaker Millionaire" tournament, named after poker pro Chris Moneymaker, who turned a $39 online satellite tournament win on Pokerstars.com into a $2.5 million windfall at the World Series of Poker in 2003. PokerStars.com is giving players from around the world the chance to compete for a $2.5 million prize pool, which includes a brand new Aston Martin DB9 Volante and a trip to the Bahamas to play down to one winner and a $1 million first prize at the Moneymaker Millionaire main event on Dec. 3.
Bring it Online -- Richard Duchossois, the chairman of Arlington Park racetrack in suburban Chicago, told state regulators Monday that it is time for the racing industry to embrace technology (e.g. the Internet) that will bring their trade to the masses, according to the Arlington Daily Herald. "If we don't get up with technology, we aren't going to exist anymore," Duchossois told Illinois Racing Board members at their third and final hearing on the industry's health. Duchossois wants state lawmakers to allow Arlington Park and other Illinois tracks to set up their own online betting sites.
Survey Says -- The CNBC program Closing Bell wants to know if online gambling should be legalized in the United States, so it is asking its viewers, "Would you favor legalization of all online gambling?" Anyone can vote in the online ballot, and daily results appear each afternoon on the program.
