The European Commission today announced a decision to launch an investigation into U.S. anti-online gambling measures, following a complaint filed in December 2007 by the U.K. Remote Gambling Association concerning the United States' selective enforcement practices. View the full story.

Playtech has agreed to supply its casino gaming platform to Buzz Casino. Buzz Casino is owned by Buzz Technologies, a Thailand-based group listed on the Pink Sheets.

Partouche Group -- which recently announced that it would launch a U.K.-facing online sports book during Q2 2008 -- reported first-quarter sales of 136 million euros, up from 130 million euros in Q1 2006.

Lottomatica, parent company to Gtech, has reported a 1.6 billion euro full-yearly result, compared to 939 million euros in 2006. Consolidated EBITDA rose to 702 million euros from 361 million euros the previous year.

Last week, Kahnawake licensee Ultimate Bet -- an online operator owned by Joe Norton, who also holds a 100 percent interest in Absolute Poker -- was alerted to allegations of unfair play and, in response, has launched a third-party investigation. More on this to come.

U.S.-based Poker Players Alliance announced that Drew Lesofski, a former senior federal policy adviser from the Washington, D.C.-based offices of Nevada Gov. Jim Gibbons, has joined the organization as director of grassroots and external affairs.

New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer, an outspoken I-gaming opponent during his time as the state's Attorney General, has been caught on a federal wiretap arranging to meet with a high-priced prostitute at a Washington hotel last month.

On the London Stock Exchange today, William Hill was down 14.50p (4 percent) to 350.00, Rank was down 2.50p (2.5 percent) to 96.00 and 888 was down 1.75p (1.3 percent) to 138.00.
