British Saturation -- Three percent of those in England who have never gambled online would be prepared to do so, according to a survey conducted March 21-23 by international financial consultancy firm KPMG on behalf of online polling organization YouGov. The results, released Friday, also showed that 14 percent of the U.K. population has tried online casinos, compared to 16 percent who have been to a land-based casino. A further 19 percent, however, said they would visit a land-based casino. "Our survey supports the view that, rather than being a nation of gamblers, there is a limit to the number of people who are interested in gambling, whether online or in a bricks-and-mortar casino," Mark Summerfield, head of travel, leisure and tourism at KPMG, said. "However, while the land-based casinos seem to have plenty of potential customers still out there, the pool of untapped online players seems to be declining." The survey also found that while men account for the majority of U.K. gamblers, 14 percent of women have visited a land-based casino and 10 percent have gambled online. A total of 2,640 people were surveyed.
