LEAVING
Simon Wykes, managing director of
Mecca Bingo, has left
Rank Group, the company announced on Monday.
Ian Burke, Rank's chief executive, will take over the role until a replacement is found, the company said.
Rank said it has started the process to select a new managing director to operate 103 licensed bingo clubs across Great Britain.
"Simon has worked hard to stabilize Mecca Bingo during a period in which the industry has had to adapt to the effects of the smoking ban, the loss of section 21 gaming machines and rising taxation," Mr. Burke said in a company statement.
"We have entered a new phase in our strategy as we look to move beyond stabilization to rebuilding Mecca Bingo's profits," he added.
SPONSORING
Managed Gaming Solutions, mobile and online gambling solutions provider, has announced that it will sponsor the GP2 Series motor racing series, specially supporting the Spanish Fat Burner Racing Engineering team.
"It is an honor to make this contribution to the GP2 Series and the famous Fat Burner Racing Engineering team, which with Giorgio Pantano has claimed the drivers' championship in 2008," said Tero Turunen, Managed Gaming Solutions' executive chairman.
EXPANDING
Evolution Gaming said it has expanded its European studios by 400 percent to meet higher demand.
The move follows the recent deals with 888 Holdings, PartyGaming and William Hill, the group said.
By adding 1,000 square meters to its Riga-based studio, Evolution said that it can offer fully-branded studios to its customers.
"Our transformation of one of Riga’s oldest buildings into a 24-hour state-of-the-art casino gaming TV studio is the next step in our plans to expand our product and platform offering in 2009," said Jens von Bahr, Evolution Gaming's chief executive, in a statement.
