DOMAIN CLAIM Tipp24 A.G. announced on Tuesday that its German product Web site has transitioned from Tipp24.de to Tipp24.com. In a prepared statement, the company said the name change follows its strategy of internationalization.
Aside from Germany, the Hamburg-based lottery operator conducts business in Great Britain, Spain and Italy. The company said that neither offerings nor content has been affected by the change.
“Tipp24 is taking the next important and logical step towards consolidation of the various current brands,” said Petra von Strombeck, a Tipp24 board member, in the statement.
INVESTIGATING The Korea Times reports that a T.V. show host has denied charges that he habitually gambled online. Kang Byung-kyu, a former professional baseball player, is suspected of betting millions on an Internet gambling site.
The paper said he is one of 130 people that are under investigation for involvement in online gambling.
ACQUIRED Sportech has announced the acquisition of 4thegame.com, a football Web site. The United Kingdom operator will use the site to strengthen its online presence and to provide content to recently relaunched pools betting product, it said in a statement.
Under the new agreement, Fast Web Media, a United Kingdom-based sports digital agency and previous owners of the Web site, will continue to provide operational and creative expertise to 4thegame.com.
“Given 4thegame.com's heritage and track record of nurturing their football audience, I believe that the acquisition will provide Sportech with extensive online possibilities,” said Will Muirhead, managing director of Football Pools Online, in the statement. “We look forward to working with Fast Web Media to develop the site and grow the audience internationally.”
