Makin' Deals -- Rimpac Resources Ltd. said today that it has signed up more than 530 Internet cafes in Vietnam to assist it in promoting and selling Internet lottery tickets on www.InternetLOTO.com. Thomas M. Johnson, president and CEO of Rimpac, said more than 250 people visit each Internet cafe daily for both personal and business use. "(The cafes) provide the perfect venue to enhance Internet LOTO's offline and online marketing strategies in order to capture and convert qualified users to purchase e-lottery tickets regularly from our Web site," Johnson said. ... Access Gaming Systems made a correction today to a press release it issued on Oct. 10. Le Francaise des Joux, which ordered an interactive television interface from Access, will offer iTV games to all network providers in France, not just Canal+, as the previous release stated.
Legal Stuff -- The use of temporary tattoos of online casino advertisements on boxers is causing controversy again in Nevada. The Las Vegas Sun reported Thursday that Mandalay Bay is suing boxing events promoter Millennium Events Inc. for allegedly breaking an agreement that disallowed boxers from tattooing themselves with online gaming advertisements. Millennium allegedly did not pay damages to Mandalay Bay after a May 18 fight in which a boxer wore a tattoo advertising the gaming site Wallstreet.com.
New Stuff -- Payment infrastructure company earthport has finished installing its Universal Payment Network for use in Ladbrokes' online gaming and telebetting operations. The system was tested in several countries before going live on the Ladbrokes site. earthport said the system will give Ladbrokes customers a secure online alternative to credit card payments. Ladbrokes is the first major gaming client for earthport. John O'Reilly, managing director of e-gaming for Ladbrokes, said his company is delighted to be working with earthport. "The online gaming market continues to boom and as the leading global brand in the industry, Ladbrokes is committed to harnessing the best of technology to benefit our customers and the company," he said.
