PARTNER UP NYX Interactive, a Swedish online gaming software supplier, is putting into effect an earlier agreement with Trimark Gaming, a gaming services supplier and operator.

The agreement will create enhanced efficiency and profits for both companies and will give the gaming operators the ability to have a general system for all players, gaming products and distribution channels.

According to Staffan Lindgren, chief executive of NYX Interactive, this will lead to flexibility, which he calls “tremendously valuable to operators.”

“They cannot afford to be locked into inflexible and proprietary systems with restrictions that prohibit rapid adaptation,” he said in a prepared statement. “To prevent loss of players to competitors, operators must gradually broaden their game offerings and increase availability, which will be greatly facilitated by a single and open general business system.”

DOWN AND OUCH Lasseters Corporation, an Australian online sportsbook and casino operator, posted a 49 percent decline in operating revenue from $6.8 million Australian dollars in 2007 to $3.5 million Australian dollars, according to financial results for the year ended June 30, 2008.

Its earnings before interest, tax, deprecation, amortization and impairment was reported as a loss of $6.4 million Australian dollars. After adjustments, the company recorded a total loss of $15.5 million Australian dollars for the 2008 financial year.

The company said that the poor results continue to reflect the impact from the passing of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act in 2006, even though Lasseters has made efforts to replace the United States market. It also attributed the loss to its inability to contend with its competitors’ range of products.

NEW SPONSORSHIP Ålands Penningautomatforening, or PAF, a Finland-based online casino provider, has signed an agreement with Atletico de Madrid, a Spanish football club, to become the club’s official gaming sponsor.

Through the 2011 season, PAF’s logo will appear on players’ shorts and on the training field among other places.

Additionally, PAF will launch an online gaming site for Atletico de Madrid fans during the first quarter of 2009. On the Web site, fans will have the ability to check odds, access other exclusive player information and participate in prize giveaways, which will include tickets and V.I.P. packages.

“This is a historic venture for us,” said Anders Wiklund, head of business-to-business operations at PAF, in a prepared statement. “Being able to team up with one of the best football clubs in Europe, which shares the same values as us, is a true honor for PAF.”

ON THIN ICE Gaming Intelligence Group reports that an advertisement for NordicBet, an online gaming firm, has created controversy between the Swedish Ice Hockey Association and its main sponsor Svenska Spel, a Swedish gaming company.

Allegedly Bjorkloven, the host team that allowed NordicBet’s ad to run on the ice, did not realize the ad conflicted with agreement terms made by the association and Svenska Spel. The Swedish Ice Hockey Association has warned it will take action against Bjorkloven for allowing ads to run from Svenska Spel’s competitors.

Kenneth Engstrom, NordicBet's marketing manager, has called fining the team a “scandal,” according to Gaming Intelligence Group. He added that the event that featured NordicBet’s advertising was far removed from professional Swedish ice hockey.

TUBE TALK It’s the first Canada-specific World Poker Tour tournament, and now WPT Enterprises Inc. has announced it will be televised in a four-part series broadcasted by Rogers Sportsnet.
