Net Bets in Ohio?

15 February 2000
The chairman of the Ohio Lottery Profits Review Committee last week told the Ohio Lottery Commission that Ohioans should be able to bet on the state lottery over the Internet.

The legislative committee was set up by Gov. Bob Taft to explore ways to prop up the state's sagging lottery revenues. Committee Chairman State Rep. Donald Mottley, a Dayton-area Republican, also said Ohio needs to loosen the law requiring 30 percent of lottery revenues go to education. No word on what the governor thinks of the proposal.
