The Nevada Resort Association has restructured management by naming Bill Bible, former Chairman of the state Gambing Control Board, president replacing Richard Bunker. To accept the position, Bible must resign his post as state ethics commission chairman. Jim Mulhall, NRA vice president of governmental affairs is stepping down to return to working full-time in politics.

On another front, the NCAA has asked Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, to introduce legislation to ban sports betting on all college sports. Hatch is said to be reviewing the NCAA proposal. Should a bill be offered it most likely would not be addressed until next year. Nevada would be isolated in fighting such a bill because it is the only state that takes bets on college sporting events according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. In 1992 legislation sponsored by Hatch abolished wagering on all professional and amateur sporting events except in Nevada and a handful of other states.
