New Entry in Racing on TV

A new venture has joined the race to provide fans with television of North American racing through a subscription-based racing video service.

TrackPower is a direct-to-home simulcasting service providing live horse racing video to paying subscribers throughout North America, and American Digital Communications and EchoStar Communications announced its launch last week. John G. Simmonds, ADCM's chairman and CEO, says his service's live video horse racing programming can be received through a 90-cm dish, using a SkyVista set-top box and access card. TrackPower, which says it will distribute its horse racing programming to targeted audiences throughout the United States, including Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico, is offering customers a limited time choice of either a $19.99 monthly rate or a discounted yearly rate of $150.

A separate service offering more than 20 channels of "Best of Satellite" is available through EchoStar's Sky Vista service for an additional $19.99 a month. A 90-cm dish antenna and a single low noise block converter with integrated feed costs another $399.
