Following PartyGaming's announcement today regarding the appointment of Jon Salmon as chief marketing officer, Party's communications director, John Shepherd, praised the hire with a little tongue-in-cheek humor.
"Salmon's a good catch for us," Mr. Shepherd told IGamingNews in a phone conversation.
Joining the company next month from Intercasino's ad agency, AdsDotCom, Mr. Salmon will oversee all brands under the PartyGaming umbrella, Mr. Shepherd said. Prior to this, Mr. Salmon served as the director of Intercasino's ad agency, AdsDotCom.
One analyst, who wished not to be named, told IGN last week -- when Mr. Salmon's appointment was only a rumor -- that Party had decided it needed to focus more on the marketing side of the business, adding that he thought Mr. Salmon was widely regarded as one of the best poker and casino marketing guys in the industry.
Sabin Brooks, the company's incumbent marketing director, will be leaving next month.
