The Great Leighs racecourse in Essex, England, has cut 17 jobs after deciding not to seek a new temporary license to operate the United Kingdom's newest racetrack.
Great Leighs went into administration in January after the British Horseracing Authority discovered the racecourse had been operating since Jan. 1, 2009 with only a temporary license.
Deloitte, the administrators for the racecourse, hope the business could be sold and a full license granted to a new owner, enabling the remaining 2009 scheduled raced to be staged.
A deadline was set for offers to be submitted by Friday.
