NZ Problem Gambling Foundations Attempts World Record

8 May 2008

John Stansfield, CEO of New Zealand's Problem Gambling Foundation, will join Alistair Galpin Friday as he attempts to break the world record of 54 radio interviews by a two-person team in a 24-hour period.

"We are asking radio stations in New Zealand and around the world to play a part in dealing with gambling harm by phoning in for an interview on 09 3690 693 between 7am Friday May 9 and 7am Saturday May 10," says the organization's press release.

The two will use the time "to highlight the damage to our families and communities being done by pokie machines," and "to let people with gambling problems and those affected by their behavior know that help is available."

Galpin, who already holds 26 other world records, worked with Problem Gambling Foundation last year to set a record for dropping five pokie machines from a helicoptor. He also holds the record for most hugs and wearing the most underpants.
