On Rumored Garber Appointment, Harrah's Says There's 'Nothing to Announce'

Harrah's Entertainment Inc. told IGamingNews Wednesday that it would not comment on this week's rumor that Mitchell A. Garber, former chief executive of PartyGaming, had been appointed to lead its new online-focused subsidiary.

"As a company we don't respond to rumors and speculation," a company spokesman said by e-mail. "If we have something to announce, we'll announce it. But there's nothing to announce."

Word of Mr. Garber's appointment emerged in the British press on Sunday.

The London Times, without citing sources, said the casino giant's new subsidiary would house its Internet operations as well as its World Series of Poker franchise.

The existence of that subsidiary has not been confirmed.
