One Class Clown Who Ain't So Popular

22 July 1999
According to approval ratings published July 20 in The Washington Times, Arizona Senator Jon Kyl, proud papa of the Internet Gambling Prohibition Act, might want to start thinking about finding a new line of work.

As Kyl continues his stance against technology, only 39 percent of the voters in his state support him, indicating that he's even less popular there than President Clinton, who has a 42 percent approval rating. Meanwhile, Kyl's counterpart, Senator John McCain, is enjoying a 67 percent approval rating, while Governor Jane Hull has the support of 65 percent of the voters.

Kyl, who's already worn out his welcome in the House of Representatives, will be up for reelection in 2000.
