PartyGaming Nears Settlement as Founder Reportedly Pleads Guilty

16 December 2008

Anurag Dikshit, one of the founders of PartyGaming, has reportedly agreed to pay $300 million to the United States Department of Justice and plead guilty to charges connected with illegal Internet gambling.

A report in the Financial Times on Monday night said Mr. Dikshit would appear in court in the Southern District of New York Tuesday afternoon to enter his plea.

In a prepared statement today, PartyGaming, in which Mr. Dikshit holds a 27 percent stake, would not comment on the Financial Times report, but said that the company is progressing toward a settlement with the D.O.J. over similar charges.
