PLUSLotto Delivers WAP-Enabled Games

24 May 2000
PLUSLotto.com, the world's first government-licensed global Internet lottery, recently entered the fledgling WAP (wireless application protocol) arena by making two of its games--"Mega Bucks" and "Alpine Cash"--accessible to players via wireless devices. Both games are available on the PLUSLotto site.

"Players will be located throughout the world, but when they buy a lottery ticket via the WAP phones, they are virtually travelling to Liechtenstein, where the servers are located," explained Mario VM Lewis, PLUSLotto marketing manager.

The games were designed by Zabadoo.com, a subsidiary of EarthPort.com. Mega Bucks offers players an online jackpot and operates similar to the U.K. National Lottery. The game has already paid out more than $1 million, according to Lewis. Alpine Cash is an instant cash scratch card with a top prize payout of $6,000. Two additional games, "Wheel of Cash" and "Dream Doors," should be WAP-enabled soon.

Payment for games is easily handled, Lewis says. Players first set up an account with PLUS Lotto either on the Net, or on a WAP-enabled phone. Credit cards, bank drafts or bank transfer can be used to deposit funds. Payment is processed through EarthPort.com's secure Internet payment system, which allows users to transact over the Internet directly from their bank account.

"We're excited to be pioneering fun and entertaining games for WAP users," added Jon Fisher, Zabadoo.com's business development manager. "This new technology means players can enjoy playing while on the move and raise money for such a worthwhile cause at the same time."

Up to 25 percent of PLUSLotto's proceeds is donated to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
