PokerTek Brings Automated Machines to Vegas

PokerTek Inc. has announced that Excalibur Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas will be installing 12 PokerPro tables. The MGM Mirage subsidiary not only serves at the Nevada trial site for the machines, it will be the first casino to have the machines in Las Vegas.

With 230 PokerPro machines worldwide, the popularity of electronic poker table appears to be catching on.

“The acceptance of the game has grown substantially in the last year and continues to grow as our footprint expands,” said Chris Halligan, chief executive of PokerTek, in a prepared statement. “We continue to hit major milestones.”

The Excalibur’s 12 machines will reside in a room solely dedicated to the PokerPro experience. The new room is set to open Friday, Aug. 22.
