PokerTek Inc. said on Wednesday that it has received seven certified Australian innovation patents, which it called a “key milestone.”

The accepted patents, which were awarded this past summer, include a variety of table and game-play features, such as the use of a center console, methods for obscuring playing cards, electronic-card tournaments and various game administrator tools.

“These patents reinforce PokerTek's position as a leading innovator,” said Christopher J.C. Halligan, PokerTek’s chief executive. “We were first to market with automated poker and have a leadership position today thanks in part to our fully featured, highly innovative products.”
