Problem Gambling Under Investigation in Australia

21 October 2008

The Australian reports that the country, on orders from Australia’s prime minister, will investigate problem gambling and the states’ dependence on gaming revenue.

The commission will begin an investigation on Nov. 24 and is expected to have a draft of findings by mid-2009 and a final report before the end of next year. The commission will look at technologies, like the Internet, to see how they have played into gambling issues as well as economic impacts.
