The Guardian reported on Wednesday that the Advertising Standards Authority, or ASA, has banned an advertisement from Paddy Power, a Dublin-based bookmaker, which gave odds that played on the failure of airlines.
The ad, which appeared in national newspapers, used the headline "Next Airline to go BUST?" with the text "Booked a flight? Don’t sweat, insure with Paddy Power" written beneath.
“The ad must not appear again in its current form,” the ASA said in its decision to take the ad off the market. “We told Paddy Power to ensure they did not unfairly discredit businesses when advertising betting markets.”
