Reminder for UK Seaside Resorts

30 May 2008

The UK Gambling Commission has reminded East Coast seaside arcade operators that this summer is the first full season that they will have to comply with new laws.

The laws include requirements to prevent underage gambling and to make available information about how to gamble responsibly and how to reach help for problem gambling.

“Over the summer the Commission and Local Authorities will be working together in coastal areas to ensure operators are properly licensed or permitted and are operating in line with the new law," said Nick Tofiluk, the Gambling Commission's Director of Operations. "That work is already underway and if operators are in any doubt about the requirements they should contact the Commission without delay.”
