RivTrend I-Gaming Index Gets Boost in Second Quarter

Gains in the North America sub index of the RivTrend Global I-Gaming Stock Index factored into what amounted to a surge in the second quarter of 2001.

Investrend Research and The River City Group announced the second quarter results last week. In total, the 15 stocks that compose the RivTrend I-Gaming Index advanced 19 percent to a level of 114 in June.

The eight stocks of the North America sub index ballooned 117 percent in the second quarter, rising to a record level of 142--quite a bit higher than its low of 65 at the end of March. The EuroAustralia sub index's seven stocks rose 13 percent and closed at 111.

The market value of these 15 Internet gambling companies appreciated US $1 billion to a total of $6.5 billion.

The two top performing RivTrend North American stocks were Scientific Games, which appreciated 168 percent in the second quarter, adding $136 million in market capitalization; and CryptoLogic, which gained in market value by 99 percent or $177 million.

Other major performers were Chartwell Technologies, up 112 percent; eLot Inc., up 213 percent and You Bet, up 149 percent.

The RivTrend Global I-Gaming Stock Index is a U.S. dollar market capitalization index composed of the leading publicly traded Internet gambling companies. It was launched in Oct. 2000. Non-U.S. dollar share prices are converted at prevailing exchange rates. These companies' shares trade in North America, London, Stockholm and Australia.
