Rulings Will Be Appealed at 'Appropriate Time' IGT Says

International Game Technology released a statement Friday in regards to the ruling that found some of the Reno-based company’s patents invalid as well as citing that Bally Technologies Inc.’s bonus-wheel machines did not infringe on IGT’s patent.

The company said that the ruling didn’t affect the validity of its asserted patent relating to bonus-wheel games as well as the validity of IGT's asserted patent covering a universal player tracking system. The statement also said the company will appeal the rulings “at an appropriate time.”

“IGT is disappointed by these rulings,” said Thomas J. Matthews, IGT’s president and chief executive, in the statement. “However, we continue to strongly believe that our positions are correct and that we will ultimately prevail. We intend to continue to vigorously pursue this lawsuit, and if necessary will appeal the rulings at the appropriate time.”
