Scientific Games China, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Scientific Games Corporation, began production of instant lottery tickets in China for China Sports Lottery Printing Ltd., the company announced on Friday.
Through a 15-year joint venture with a local partner, Scientific Games said it has established an instant-ticket manufacturing facility at an existing China Sports Lottery Printing location in Beijing.
During the first half of 2009, Scientific Games said it anticipates an increase of printing capacity to four billion, which the company said will meet the “existing demand in the market” for instant lottery tickets. The company added that its revenues from this venture will be based on a percentage of retail sales.
“This facility will provide the foundation for China Sports Lottery's instant ticket lottery to meet the robust post-Olympic demand in the market and grow for years to come,” said Michael R. Chambrello, Scientific Games’ president and chief operating officer, in a prepared statement.
