Score One for the NGISC

Although the Associated Press gave it a different twist, a General Accounting Office audit of the National Gambling Impact Study Commission, requested by Senator Richard Bryan of Nevada, turned out to be a victory for the NGISC.

Bryan tried to portray it in a positive light and the AP bought his version, but the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that "while Congress' chief investigative arm concluded there were some minor infractions of federal guidelines, GAO repeatedly declared it could not find any evidence of serious misconduct."

Bryan said he was not disappointed with the report, and "the investigation dramatically changed the way the commission proposed doing business. It is a much more open process now."
