Six Arrested in Turkey Bingo Raid

22 December 2008

According to the Daily Mail, six British bingo players were arrested and fined £55 each for playing bingo in Altinkum, Turkey.

The newspaper reports that the men and women were held for several hours for participating in an alleged charity bingo event. Police raided the bar, according to reports, because bingo is illegal in the country.

“I hope I don’t get a criminal record for playing bingo,” Pauline Ellington told The Mail. “We have been hauled out of there as if we are common criminals. It is disgusting as the night was for a good cause.”
