Slots Market Still Tough in Conn.

18 November 2008

Two tribal casinos in Connecticut reported an October decline in slot-machine income -- losses less precipitous, however, than September's double-digit dip.

Foxwoods Resort Casino and MGM Grand at Foxwoods revealed net slots win of $57.1 million for the period, down 7.5 percent versus October 2007. Mohegan Sun, meanwhile, reported net slots win of $65.4 million, down 9 percent against the same period last year.

“October slot results continue to be reflective of the current economic climate,” Barry Cregan, Foxwoods’ interim president, said in a prepared statement. “Overall, we are holding our own in an industry that is facing considerable challenges.”
