Louisiana House Bill 85, a measure to that would enable Fair Grounds Race Course to offer pari-mutuel wagering over the Internet, has passed in both Houses and currently awaits the governor's signature.
The bill passed in the House by a 22-13 vote on March 30, at which time it was taken up by the Senate. It then passed in the Senate (87-14) on April 3 and landed on the governor's desk on the 5th.
Fair Grounds President and General Manager Bryan Krantz told IGN last month that the track plans to implement an Internet wagering service once the law is enacted. Krantz projects a 10 percent growth in business for the track if the door is opened for account wagering.
