The Sacramento Bee reports that in the last year California tribal casinos have seen a plateau and even a decline in growth levels.
The report, part one of an examination of the economy’s effect on gambling in the region, outlined the regions casinos struggle as consumers’ belts tighten.
“Based on what I know, a lot of the Indian casinos are down double digits,” said Rich Hoffman, chief executive officer for Jackson Rancheria Casino, told the newspaper. “I've heard figures ranging from 10 percent to 20 percent, especially for casinos in the more mature markets like Southern California.”
