Horse bettors will soon be able to make tax-free wagers on races all over the world at a new website developed by Sportingbet.com (UK) Plc, the first British company to offer tax-free sports betting online.
Sportingbet.com, which went live online in October 1998, offers tax-free betting on both sports and horse racing. Success on the Net prompted the company to launch the new site, located at www.sportingbetracing.com, which will offer wagering on horse racing from every continent and be open to bettors from all over the world.
"Our stated aim is to become the global brand name for internet and telephone betting," said Mark Blanford, managing director of Sportingbet.com. "The High St names that have a profile in the UK don't have a profile in the rest of the world. However, Sportingbet.com has been operating for almost a year, and in the world of e-commerce, that is a significant amount of time. In that period, we have launched into the USA and will soon launch our Japanese service. The launch of sportingbetracing.com will have a significant effect on the British bookmaking industry as we offer a better rate than other telephone betting operations that are based off-shore."
