Sports Betting Strong in Estonia

22 August 2008

According to Baltic Business News, an Estonian news service, sports betting is still popular despite the current unstable economic climate in the country.

"Turnover has been surprisingly high during the Olympics," Aldo Maksimov, project manager of betting Web site Spordiennustus.ee, told the newspaper. "Daily turnover has been high and players have won more money than we have."

"Financially this is about the same as during the Athens Olympics," he continued, "but players have been betting more actively. We were afraid of a backlash because of the economic recession, but it seems that we have not been affected by that."
