A deal between Sprint and Digital Bridges, Ltd. will give Sprint PCS wireless Web customers access to a variety of casino-style games on their mobile phones.
The games selection will include single parlor games like fours, roulette, higher/lower and craps, while the multiplayer games selection will include tank battle and fight KO. Sprint officials emphasize, however, that the games are strictly for entertainment and involve no gambling.
This is just the latest addition to Sprint's menu of games. Last December Sprint began offering a series of trivia games on the PCS system through a deal with BUZZTIME.
"Since we've launched games on our cell phones last fall, we've seen tremendous uptake and it has become very popular with our customers, who are able to entertain themselves while waiting for a bus or sitting in an airport," Sprint PCS spokesperson Suzanne Lammers told the Las Vegas Sun.
Echoing this was BUZZTIME President Tyrone Lam, who told IGN that about
250,000 unique Sprint wireless customers have played at least one BUZZTIME
game since the product was launched, representing probably 20 percent to 30 percent of Sprint's wireless customer base. Players average a five-minute stay, while BUZZTIME sees about 2,000 to 3,000 unique visitors daily.
"We think it's the most used entertainment offering on the wireless Web," Lam said.
Digital Bridges is a Scotland-based company that generates and delivers interactive entertainment products.
