(PRESS RELEASE) -- Stake, the world’s largest online casino and sportsbook, has confirmed its ambition to enter New Zealand’s newly regulated online casino market as the company continues to expand its presence across global jurisdictions.
Since its launch in 2017, Stake has quickly grown from an online gaming disruptor to one of the industry’s most well-known brands.
Stake is now among the handful of operators that have progressed through the New Zealand license auction process, giving it the opportunity to apply for a license under the new framework.
Licenses have not yet been granted, with the market expected to launch from 2027, subject to the completion of the licensing process and regulatory approvals.
New Zealand presents a significant opportunity for Stake to expand its international presence as the operator continues to pursue opportunities in new global markets.
A Stake spokesperson said: “We’re really excited about the opportunity in New Zealand as the market moves towards regulation. It’s a strong fit for Stake and another important step in growing our presence globally.
“This follows our expansion into Alberta, Argentina and Mexico this year, and reflects our wider strategy of entering new markets where we see long-term potential.
“We’re looking forward to the next stages of the process and, ultimately, bringing the Stake experience to customers in New Zealand.”
By combining innovation in online gaming with major sports and entertainment, Stake has been able to solidify its global identity as a leading online sportsbook and casino.
The potential New Zealand entry would follow Stake’s expansion into Alberta, Argentina and Mexico in 2026, as the company continues to prioritize markets with long-term growth potential.
Stake expects to continue growing its global footprint, with further market expansion planned during 2026.
