Starnet took a significant stride in the race for dominance in the Asian market this week by debuting "Joyluck Casino," a live wagering site entirely translated into Chinese. The cyber casino is operated by the company's Antigua-based subsidiary, World Gaming Services Inc.
The Asian population clearly represents one of the fastest growing Internet user markets. Computer Economics Inc. projects that by 2005, China will have the second largest population of Internet users, (37.3 million) next to the United States. Starnet is attempting to solidify its presence in the market by offering this new site to users with Chinese web browsers and operating systems. The company hopes to establish a strong customer base in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia and Chinese communities existing in other countries. T
Visitors to the site can download casino software which includes an authentic Pai Gow Poker and an additional 21 machine and table games. Java versions of blackjack, slots, video poker and Caribbean Stud are also available.
"The completion of a Chinese casino is a significant step within our strategy of penetrating established niche world markets, Starnet Vice President of Marketing Bret Conkin said. "The fact that the site was designed and translated by a Shanghai native gives Joyluck a cultural appeal we feel is superior to any competitor currently in the Asian market."
