Both North Carolina and Iowa lottery sales have declined along with the economic conditions in the United States.
The Charlotte Observer reports that North Carolina lottery’s chief executive is asking for a “stimulus package” by implementing new games. Although the lottery earned $400 million from July through November, sales tapered off in the last month causing a 9 percent decline.
A similar situation is taking place in Iowa. According to the Associated Press, sales from July through October are down 5.6 percent compared to last year. A lottery spokesperson attributed the loss to the economy and the state’s record flooding.
